Product Description

A refined fusion of Japanese ceremonial silk and modern structure, this statement tote is handcrafted in Japan from a vintage 100% silk fukuro obi — a formal kimono sash traditionally worn for ceremonial dress.

A vivid orange rangiku chrysanthemum sweeps across a luminous silver ground, creating a bright yet elegant floral composition that catches the light beautifully. The contrast between the cool metallic base and warm orange motif gives the piece a fresh, graceful presence.

With its clean structured silhouette and silver-orange palette, the bag pairs beautifully with classic outfits, polished casual looks, elegant styling, and seasonal wardrobes from autumn through summer.

Each piece is made from a carefully selected vintage obi, allowing the textile’s original composition, color depth, and woven character to become part of a modern wearable object.

Why It’s Special

Vintage silk fukuro obi — upcycled from a formal Japanese kimono sash selected for its luminous silver ground, vivid orange rangiku motif, and refined metallic detailing.
Rangiku chrysanthemum motif — the sweeping chrysanthemum composition creates graceful movement and a bright sculptural presence.
Silver and orange palette — cool silver tones and warm orange accents create a fresh yet elegant contrast.
Coordinated obijime handles — the handles are made from vintage obijime cords, carefully matched to the orange tones of the chrysanthemum motif.
Thoughtful interior detail — the inner pocket is made from silk obi lining from another obi, chosen to harmonize with the bag’s warm orange palette.
Structured silhouette — full firm interfacing and an inserted base board help the bag maintain its clean architectural form.
Handcrafted in Japan — carefully made by an experienced Japanese artisan with attention to structure, balance, and textile preservation.
One-of-a-kind — each vintage obi has its own pattern placement and textile character, so the exact same piece cannot be reproduced.

Behind the Craft

Each bag is created through a cross-generational craft process.

Ayako, a couture sample seamstress with over 40 years of experience, leads the making. Yuko, trained in kimono and luxury fur tailoring, advises on textile handling. Ayuko, the brand founder and former corporate consultant, designs each piece by translating Japan’s tacit artisanal knowledge into structured modernity.

The result is a small-batch object that preserves the character of vintage Japanese silk while giving it a sharp, contemporary form.

Notes on Vintage Textiles

This bag is made from carefully selected vintage obi and obijime. Subtle age-related marks, slight discoloration, thread irregularities, or signs of previous textile storage may remain. These are part of the history and authenticity of the material, and do not affect normal use.

Because this piece features a light-colored textile ground, subtle vintage marks or tonal variations may be slightly more visible than on darker obi fabrics.

Photos are taken with a Nikon DSLR in natural daylight without flash. Actual colors may vary slightly depending on indoor lighting and display settings.
