Product Description

A refined fusion of Japanese ceremonial silk and modern structure, this statement tote is handcrafted in Japan from a vintage 100% silk fukuro obi — a formal kimono sash traditionally worn for ceremonial dress.

A vivid rangiku chrysanthemum unfolds across a deep indigo-blue ground in shades of vermilion red, coral, and soft metallic pink. The sweeping petals create a dynamic sense of movement, while the contrast between the cool blue ground and warm floral tones gives the piece a striking yet refined presence.

With its clean structured silhouette and expressive red-blue palette, the bag pairs beautifully with navy, black, denim, white, and polished casual looks, as well as mode-inspired styling and dressed-up occasions.

Each piece is made from a carefully selected vintage obi, allowing the textile’s original composition, color depth, and woven character to become part of a modern wearable object.

Why It’s Special

Vintage silk fukuro obi — upcycled from a formal Japanese kimono sash selected for its vivid rangiku motif, deep indigo-blue ground, and luminous metallic detailing.
Rangiku chrysanthemum motif — the large swirling chrysanthemum creates movement, depth, and strong visual presence.
Red and indigo palette — warm vermilion-red and coral tones contrast beautifully with the cool blue ground for a bold yet balanced look.
Vintage obijime handles — paired with carefully selected vintage obijime cords that complement the textile and add a refined traditional detail.
Structured silhouette — full firm interfacing and an inserted base board help the bag maintain its clean architectural form.
Handcrafted in Japan — carefully made by an experienced Japanese artisan with attention to structure, balance, and textile preservation.
One-of-a-kind — each vintage obi has its own pattern placement and textile character, so the exact same piece cannot be reproduced.

Behind the Craft

Each bag is created through a cross-generational craft process.

Ayako, a couture sample seamstress with over 40 years of experience, leads the making. Yuuko, trained in kimono and luxury fur tailoring, advises on textile handling. Ayuko, the brand founder and former corporate consultant, designs each piece by translating Japan’s tacit artisanal knowledge into structured modernity.

The result is a small-batch object that preserves the character of vintage Japanese silk while giving it a sharp, contemporary form.

Notes on Vintage Textiles

This bag is made from carefully selected vintage obi and obijime. Subtle age-related marks, slight discoloration, thread irregularities, or signs of previous textile storage may remain. These are part of the history and authenticity of the material, and do not affect normal use.

Due to the fine and detailed weave of this particular obi, a small amount of thread lifting may be visible near the handle insertion areas. The obijime handles also feature a decorative structure that gathers only the inner fabric, and minor thread lifting may be present as part of this construction.
